I have all my components coming this weekend for an office PC build I'm doing for a friend. The only thing I'm missing is the case. Case should be here Monday. When I test for POST, Can I just leave everything hooked up and install Windows and set up the system outside of the case?

Or is that too risky? I've seen folks with their "crappy" computers in like cardboard boxes and stuff. Would it be bad to leave it running like that for an hour or two while I get everything installed?

That way when the case comes monday I can just put everything in and do cable management and give it to her then?

Theoretically it should work but I wouldn't do it like that. I'd rather have the hardware settled before I tackle software installation.
